Shedding leaves in season…

From my collection

I haven’t written in a while but today was just a good say for a blog post. I woke up in a meditative state and took some time later in the day to enjoy the sunset from home. As I was looking at the trees around my home, I suddenly had a thought about seasons and friendships. Read on and I hope it resonates with you.

It’s almost the end of August and some trees have shed all their leaves due to the wind and to pay homage to the season. Nature teaches us a lot about the human way, if only we could take the time to observe the seasons.

Friends will come and friends will go as seasons come and go. Let us be comfortable with closing doors on things that no longer serve us. You can outgrow a friend of 20 years. There is no fixed timeline on friendship although I know we all wish for forever. It is sad, but that is life. I lost my high school best friend when she got married and we no longer had anything in common. It was hard to accept but I had to grow up and let it go. Recently, I had to come to the brutal realisation that some of my childhood friends are no longer of the same mindset as I. People grow and evolve and you know what, ITS OKAY.

This reminds me of the words of Paulo Coelho in one of my favourite books of his The Zahir:

It is always important to know when something has reached its end. Closing circles, shutting doors, finishing chapters, it doesn’t matter what we call it; what matters is to leave in the past those moments in life that are over.

This is easier said than done, but it is an essential part of life. If we fight it, we only prolong the inevitable and our pain holding on to something that no longer is.

🥂 to all the friends I have had to say goodbye to because we outgrew each other or we realised we were no longer compatible. I appreciate the times we had together. Hello to all the new people I am allowing into my life now that there is vacant space. We grow and evolve.

Hope you’re doing well wherever you are reading this. How are you and your circle of friends doing? I am ready for new hellos!

This is what I do, I never stop making friends to sort of replace those that gone, its like stages of a river before it pours its waters in a lake or something, what matters is the effect those friends have on us and we to them too. Life is like a beautiful long tv show, every scene, every episode, every season all make up one big story.

You always write staff that speak to me. I used to have attachment issues especially when it came to friendships because of the memories we had. Its good to close some doors , no regrets just valuing the times we had.

Shedding leaves in season. . . my circle of friends is very small and I’m glad because I’ve outgrown a lot of them hence it is small. ❤❤
