Be ye transformed

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This is my verse of the week and it has become the cornerstone of my 21-day reframe your mind challenge. If you missed my post about it, you can read about it HERE.

It has been nine days since I started the challenge and it’s been one hell of a ride. I had no idea just how bad the mind can become if you allow it to run wild. Negativity has such a powerful force if not identified and held captive. The moment I made the decision to rid myself of negative thoughts, guess what? I experienced even more negative thoughts. What do they call that? It’s like when you are trying to kick a bad habit, say drinking, and then you experience hectic withdrawal symptoms and end up feeling really miserable and needing a drink.

I am realising that it is all part of the process. The trick is to keep at it because the initial onslaught is meant to derail all efforts at improving my mental health and keep me in a negative space.

Back to the verse in Romans 12:2, as I was meditating on it, I began to understand that the renewal of my mind comes from stepping away from the culture or world as some would call it. I cannot renew my mind by focusing on the same things that bring unrest, fear, comparison, etc. The first step was clear, that is, to step away from social media. Not all social media is bad, but most of it can do more harm than good. I prefer to stick to reading blogs because I mostly follow uplifting and wholesome content. This has been going well.

The second part of the verse speaks about how the renewing of your mind allows you to be in line with God’s perfect will for your life. The word of God helps us with transforming our minds from unwanted thoughts and brings us closer to God. Sometimes much of what troubles us comes from the fact that we worry about our lives, where we are going and what we will become. Worrying is not God’s will for us. He says in His word:

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I have been learning to live life one day at a time. Each day brings its own challenges and thoughts which are enough for that day. I can say that my 21 day challenge is going okayish, it’s far from perfect but we ( me and my mind) will get there.

Drop me some encouragement in the comment section or let me know how your week is going.

Cheers,

GG

  1. The word of God is alive and effective. This journey is by no means easy however we have the three tools.

    1. The word of God
    2. Praise
    3. Prayer

These are the three things that will keep us going when it gets tough, im on this journey and I can tell you God has a way of unearthing stuff you wouldn’t think you have. Praying for Him to cleanse our conscience is key. He will forgive us and help us. May you continue to seek him as you run your race of faith GG.

    1. Thank you Brenda and indeed I would not be where I am without his grace. It’s not the easiest journey, but He is always there. Thanks for passing by and engaging 💞
