Afrobloggers Award Nomination

Greetings to all my lovely readers. If you are reading this, I hope you are finding a reason to smile and have hope in this season. May the Lord bless you abundantly.

Today, I am happy to announce that this blog, More to Getty, has been nominated for an Afrobloggers Award. If you have not heard about Afrobloggers before, let me put you on. Afrobloggers is a platform that connects and celebrates bloggers from the African continent. They have been doing so much to increase the visibility of the work of African creators in different spaces, including podcasts, blogs and vlogs. It has grown from being a platform that supports bloggers to a movement that celebrates African content and allows content creators to interact with each other. I am proud to be an Afroblogger and today especially, because of the recognition I have received with this nomination.

More To Getty has been nominated in the personal blog category and this has made me reflect on what exactly is a personal blog. According to Google:

a personal blog is an ongoing online diary or commentary written by an individual, corporation or organization.

Google

That is such an apt description of this space. I write like I am writing in my personal diary and it allows me to share my thoughts and express myself. Other definitions of a personal blog state that it does not focus on a specific topic or audience and that is also true about this blog. I write about my faith, my work, my life and society; all of which are multi-faceted. Personal bloggers usually aim to make a difference and share knowledge about certain topics. It is no surprise then that several other amazing personal bloggers have been nominated in this category, some of whom I follow religiously. It is a pleasure to be nominated and I know whoever bags the award in this category deserves it. We are all winners.
